- Explore a provided list of web links by viewing digital videos, reading, playing games, and listening to audio files.
- Identify key safety tips for safe use of the Internet.
- Cite the websites provided.
Task Checklist:
Tasks 1-4 are to be completed by 3:30 Monday.
Tasks 5-6 are to be completed by 3:30 Wednesday.
Tasks 7-8 are to be completed by 3:30 Friday.
- View the welcome video.
- Read the class syllabus.
- Read the directions for using EDMODO. Your media specialist will give you the group code.
- Visit the class EDMODO site and respond to the first discussion question.
- Respond to one student on the EDMODO site.
- Post in Edmodo the citation for the class blog. Use the suggested format.
- Visit each of the provided web links.
- Create cyber safety tips for each website and cite the sources using the provided note-taking template. A total of ten tips will be required for the completion of this template. Submit this assignment using a computer and EDMODO.
Syllabus:
- Watch the Welcome Voki video on the course blog.
- Read the class syllabus or watch the linked video version and pay attention to assignment descriptions and due dates.
- Read the directions for using EDMODO. Review the expectations for participating in discussions.
- Respond to this question in EDMODO: Remember not to use your full name when posting. Introduce yourself to the class and share if you have ever had an experience using the Internet that made you feel uncomfortable or worry. What did you do?
- Watch the provided video to review how to site sources and take notes using the provided template. When you click the template link, save the file to your Z drive. You can begin to edit it once you have saved it. Remember to save often. See a sample citation and read how to cite a website.
- Post your citation for the class Edmodo group. Answer the following questions about the course syllabus in the same post:
- When should you check the blog?
- When are most assignments due?
- How many tips will you PSA include?
- Remember all of your notes must be written in your own words. Summarize the main point to create your tips. Remember to cite each website! Use Son of Citation Machine! Trying to pass someone else's work off as your own and taking the credit is plagiarism. We DO NOT plagiarize!
- Read the Note-taking Rubric to see how this assignment will be scored. Visit each of the provided web links. All of these links require FLASH. You might not want to use an iPad. Bring your earbuds with you to the lab! Some links will require you to read, listen, view video clips, or play games.
