MODULE 1 TOPIC: CYBER-SAFETY RESEARCH

Overview: This module will require students to read the course syllabus, utilize the tools for communicating and turning in assignments, interact with other student participants, and begin gathering knowledge on how to use the Internet safely.

Goals for Module 1:


  • Review the course syllabus and expectations.
  • List ten tips for using the Internet safely.
  • Cite online sources.

Objectives for Module 1:

  • Identify key components of the course syllabus and requirements.
  • Explore a provided list of web links by viewing digital videos, reading, playing games, and listening to audio files.
  • Identify key safety tips for safe use of the Internet.
  • Cite the websites provided.

Task Checklist:
Tasks 1-4 are to be completed by 3:30 Monday.
Tasks 5-6 are to be completed by 3:30 Wednesday.
Tasks 7-8 are to be completed by 3:30 Friday.

  1. View the welcome video.
  2. Read the class syllabus.
  3. Read the directions for using EDMODO.  Your media specialist will give you the group code.
  4. Visit the class EDMODO site and respond to the first discussion question.
  5. Respond to one student on the EDMODO site.
  6. Post in Edmodo the citation for the class blog.  Use the suggested format.
  7. Visit each of the provided web links.
  8. Create cyber safety tips for each website and cite the sources using the provided note-taking template. A total of ten tips will be required for the completion of this template. Submit this assignment using a computer and EDMODO.
